Has anyone used an iPad Pro for working with Webflow, and if so, how was the experience?

TL;DR
  • Webflow's Designer isn't fully supported on iPad Pro browsers, though requesting the desktop site and using a keyboard/trackpad can help with minor tasks.
  • CMS and dashboard functions are accessible, but complex design work requires a desktop or remote desktop workaround.

Using an iPad Pro with Webflow is possible but comes with limitations, especially when compared to the full desktop experience. Here's what to expect:

1. Core Editor Access

  • Webflow Designer is not officially supported on mobile or tablet browsers, including Safari and Chrome on iPadOS.
  • Some users have found workarounds by requesting the desktop version of Webflow in Safari, but performance is inconsistent and toolbar elements may not respond well to touch input.
  • External Keyboard and Trackpad support (e.g., Magic Keyboard) improves usability, though still doesn’t replicate a full desktop environment.

2. Dashboard and CMS Management

  • Webflow Project Dashboard is fully accessible on iPad Pro. You can login, manage billing, settings, and collections.
  • Editor (CMS) mode works better. Clients can update site content using the Webflow Editor on an iPad Pro with good results.

3. Limitations in Designer

  • Dragging elements, resizing, or large-scale layout changes are difficult or unreliable due to touch optimization gaps.
  • The Style Panel and Navigator are cramped, even in landscape mode. The interface often becomes unresponsive or covers crucial buttons.
  • Preview mode, interactions, and animation triggers can't be configured effectively on the iPad.

4. Alternative Approaches

  • Some users connect remotely to a desktop (via services like Jump Desktop or Chrome Remote Desktop) from the iPad Pro, allowing full Webflow Designer usage indirectly.
  • Figma or other design tools work well natively on iPad, allowing you to design layouts which can later be built in Webflow from a desktop.

Summary

The iPad Pro can be used to manage CMS content or minor edits in Webflow, but it's not practical for full design work in the Webflow Designer. For serious building and layout tasks, a desktop or laptop remains essential.
