If your website isn't showing up on Google, it may be due to the “no indexing” setting in Webflow that prevents search engines from crawling your site. Here's how to find and change it.
1. Check Site-Wide Indexing Settings
- Go to Project Settings in your Webflow Dashboard.
- Click on the SEO tab.
- Find the setting labeled "Disable Webflow Subdomain Indexing" and "Disable Indexing".
- If “Disable Indexing” is checked, this will block all search engines from indexing your website.
- Uncheck "Disable Indexing" to allow Google and others to crawl your site.
- Click Save Changes at the bottom.
2. Check Individual Page Settings
- Open the Webflow Designer.
- Go to the Pages panel (icon with stacked horizontal lines).
- Click the gear icon next to the page you want Google to index (opens Page Settings).
- Scroll to the SEO Settings.
- If "Exclude this page from search engine indexing" is checked, that page will be hidden from Google.
- Uncheck this option to allow indexing.
- Click Close, then Publish the site to make changes live.
3. Publish the Site After Changes
- After updating SEO settings, go back to your Webflow Dashboard.
- Click Publish, then choose your domain to push the updated settings live.
- It’s essential that your changes are published, or Google won’t be able to see them.
4. Optional: Check Robots.txt
- In Project Settings > SEO, scroll down to the robots.txt section.
- If you're using a custom robots.txt, make sure it doesn't include
Disallow: /. - An incorrect robots.txt file can also prevent indexing.
Summary
To remove “no indexing” in Webflow, uncheck “Disable Indexing” in Project Settings and uncheck “Exclude from search engine indexing” in individual Page Settings. Then publish your site for the changes to take effect.
