If code or unwanted characters are showing in your Webflow home page’s meta description, you'll need to check and clean up the meta description field in the Page Settings.
1. Open Your Home Page Settings
- In the Webflow Designer, go to the Pages panel (press P or click the Pages icon on the left).
- Hover over your Home page and click the gear icon (Page Settings).
2. Check the Meta Description Field
- Scroll down to the SEO Settings section.
- Look at the Meta Description field.
- Remove any HTML code, special characters, or JavaScript snippets that shouldn't be there—this field should contain plain text only.
3. Save and Publish
- Click Save at the bottom of Page Settings.
- Then click Publish to make the cleaned-up description live on your site.
4. Inspect Custom Code (if issue persists)
- Still seeing code in your meta description? Go to Settings > Custom Code and see if any script is manipulating the meta tags.
- Remove or adjust any JS that alters meta information dynamically.
5. Clear and Re-Submit to Search Engines
- Use tools like Google Search Console to request indexing of the updated homepage so search results refresh sooner.
