How can I remove a symbol that I've created in Webflow and is now stuck on my page?

TL;DR
  • Open the Navigator panel, locate and select the symbol with a green outline, then right-click to unlink it.
  • Delete the unlinked elements and optionally remove the symbol from the Symbols tab if it's no longer needed.

Having a symbol stuck on your Webflow page can be frustrating. Here’s how you can remove it:

1. Open the Elements Panel

  • Go to the Navigator panel in the right sidebar to get a clear view of your page structure.

2. Locate the Symbol

  • Find and select the symbol in the Navigator that you want to remove. Symbols appear with a green outline.

3. Unlink the Symbol

  • Right-click on the symbol in the Navigator or directly on the canvas.
  • Choose Unlink from Symbol to convert the symbol into regular elements.

4. Delete the Elements

  • Select the unlinked elements and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

5. Clean Up Unused Symbols

  • Go to the Symbols tab in the Designer's left panel.
  • If you’re sure the symbol is no longer needed, hover over it in the list and click the trash icon to permanently delete it.

Summary

To remove a stuck symbol from your Webflow page, first unlink it from the symbol library through the Navigator or canvas, then delete the resulting normal elements. Ensure you delete the symbol from the Symbols tab if it’s no longer needed.
