Webflow does not allow transferring active hosting plans between accounts when moving a site. Hosting is tied to the account where the plan was purchased.
1. Hosting Is Account-Specific
- Site hosting plans cannot be moved with the project when transferring it to another Webflow account.
- Hosting is non-transferable across different Webflow workspaces or individual accounts, even if the site design is cloned or exported.
2. What Happens When You Transfer a Site
- When you transfer a site to a different account or workspace:
- The design and CMS content move over.
- The hosting subscription does not — the original plan stays in the original account.
- The new account must purchase a new site plan to re-enable hosting features (e.g., custom domains, CMS/API access).
3. Steps to Move a Hosted Site to Another Account
- In the current account:
- Cancel the site plan once it's no longer needed (it won't affect your ability to transfer the site design).
- Transfer the project to the new workspace using the "Move to Workspace" or “Transfer to another account” option.
- In the destination account:
- Purchase a new hosting plan for the transferred project.
- Reconnect custom domains, SSL settings, and any third-party integrations.
4. Billing Considerations
- Webflow does not issue partial refunds for unused hosting time.
- If the goal is to reduce downtime or double payment:
- Coordinate the cancelation and reactivation quickly.
- Consider timing the transfer near the end of a billing cycle.
Summary
You cannot transfer an active hosting plan with a site when moving it to another Webflow account. You must cancel the original plan and start a new one in the destination account after the transfer.
